“Should old acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind? Should old acquaintance be forgot, and old lang syne?”
Happy Slack New Year!
I must admit to only just realising what the lyrics of that New Year’s chant/song actually were. Perhaps because people only ever seem to drink it when drunk on New Year’s. Either way, it’s basically about forgetting stuff, so in essence we are already priming ourselves to forget all about the New Year’s resolutions we’ve just made.
If you are feeling bad for failing at your New Year’s resolutions already, fear not, for there is a holiday 17th January just for you. Today is Ditch New Year’s Resolutions Day, the special day when we are allowed to ditch all of those poorly constructed and entirely unrealistic New Year’s resolutions we just made the previous few weeks and have most likely already failed at.
Check out Are New Year’s resolutions all that and a bag of potato chips? to find out what’s wrong with the top 10 most commonly chosen resolutions, as well as some tips on how to set meaningful goals and give yourself a decent chance of achieving them. Like always, I still find a way to talk about Justin Beiber bringing about the apocalypse.
